Rick Lawson participates in Europaeum panel on Rule of Law and Democracy
On 12-13 April Rick Lawson took part in the event 'Democracy in Europe', organised by the Europaeum and hosted by the University of Bologna.
The event took place in the context of the ‘Scholars Programme’, which brings together 30 PhD students from the 19 universities that participate in the Europaeum. The Scholars Programme is taken alongside a doctorate in 7-8 intensive modules, each of 3-5 days, in universities across Europe. The modules include seminars, debates and workshops with leading academics and practitioners; professional skills training; and substantial teamwork. Over the two years, the Scholars operate in small multidisciplinary groups on a project designed and conducted entirely by them to 'make Europe a better place'. In this context Professor Rick Lawson participated in a panel on Rule of Law and Democracy together with Adam Bodnar, the former Ombudsman of Poland, and Professor Thomas Risse (Free University of Berlin).
