Graduation Ceremony MA International Relations
On Wednesday 19 October 2022, the graduation ceremony for the International Relations MA programme took place. In the Teylerszaal of the Academy Building, the cohort of Master's students received their diploma.
Graduates were called forward by their supervisor to receive their diploma, as well as a short speech on their journey and accomplishments. Maud, who graduated from the Global Order in Historical Perspective specialisation, says she felt a little emotional at the kind words and praise going around the room: "When they talked about everyone’s theses, I kept thinking, wow, that topic's so interesting! And so is that one! The idea that it's over now – I’m leaving here with a smile and a tear."
Fellow graduant Dora, donning a full cap and gown, wholeheartedly agrees: the programme really changed and broadened her perspective on the world around her, she says. "You’re very aware of how what you’re studying is relevant at the moment: you’d just have learned about something, and then you go home and read the news and think, that’s actually what I’m studying. It allows you to reflect on the world around you and put things into perspective." Dora did the Global Political Economy specialisation, about which she'll miss not only the contents of the programme, but also her classmates. "You’re in class with people from anywhere, you go for a drink with them afterwards – it’s a really international environment."
The Leiden University Faculty of Humanities would like to congratulate all the graduants of the International Relations Master's!
