Farewell master's mentor Constitutional and Administrative Law
On Thursday 13 October 2022, the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law bid farewell to Elly van der Tang-van Loenen, for years the department's mentor for master’s students. Having enjoyed this position for many years, Elly is now retiring.
As a farewell, Elly was treated to a cruise on the Kagerplassen while enjoying drinks and savouries. Not only her current colleagues were present, but also her family and former colleagues.
During the cruise a special gift was presented to Elly: at the Kamerlingh Onnes building, a meeting room will be named after her: the Elly Room! Teaching staff can meet students in this room (B1.M. 11) to discuss, for example, their master’s thesis. And so Elly’s legacy of mentoring ideas will forever have a place within the department.
Elly van der Tang-van Loenen (1947) did a degree in Law (constitutional and administrative law) at Leiden University (graduating 1991). From 1994, she was affiliated to Leiden University, initially as a researcher (1994) and later as a lecturer (1995) and Assistant Professor in constitutional and administrative law (1996). In February 2005, she became mentor for the students studying for a master’s degree in constitutional and administrative law.
Elly was greatly appreciated by both the department and the students. We will miss her!
