Frederik Behre on Comparative regional integration research in action
During an Erasmus+ research stay in Rwanda, Frederik Behre gave several guest lectures to bachelor's and master's students enrolled in the various law programmes of the University of Rwanda. In the course of his four-week research stay, Behre organised a series of highly interactive lectures with the kind support of his colleagues at the University of Rwanda.
The topics covered ranged from comparative regional integration law, EU criminal and European fundamental rights law, to an introduction to legal research methodology. The lectures were followed by stimulating debates with students and lecturers on the specific topics covered, as well as a comparison between EU and (East) African integration.
In addition to this lecture series, Frederik Behre also conducted research-related meetings with academics from the University of Rwanda, EU and Rwandan officials, as well as other stakeholders working on environmental protection and climate change regulation in Rwanda. The research stay fosters the existing research collaboration with the University of Rwanda and links to the activities of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Comparative Regional Integration (CompaRe) in the region combined with a new focus on comparative (regional) climate change regulation.
Frederik Behre is a postdoctoral researcher at the Europa Institute and affiliated with CompaRe.
