Marieke Liem speaks at 3 October University
Every year Leiden University celebrates the lifting of the siege of 1574, with the 3 October University. This year the event will be held on the 4th of October between 11 am and 1 pm. Visit the tent in the city centre of Leiden, to hear three of our scientists talk about their research on the theme of 'Resilience'.
This year, Marieke will contribute by discussing her work into drug-related violence. In her lecture, she delves deeper into the world of drug crime, placing the spectacular newspaper headlines in a scientific context. Which forms of violence do drugs play a role? The cocaine market is booming, does that affect the Dutch homicide rates? And: are we now living in the most violent time ever?
