Online workshop "Enhancing inspiration: Rhythm, Improvisation and Creativity in contemporary modal music"
ACPA PhD Marina Liontou Mochament will host an online workshop in April.
On 11 and 12 April Marina will give the workshop "Enhancing inspiration: Rhythm, Improvisation and Creativity in contemporary modal music". The workshop is in line with her research which revolves around the question How can we enhance inspiration in metric modal improvisation and subsequently, in modal composition?
Through decoding, analysing and reflecting on these practices, as well as her own practice, oud-player and composer Marina Liontou-Mochament intends to acquire a systematized and articulated knowledge of this improvisational practice. This embodied knowledge will eventually be used as a tool for composing music, contributing consequently on the one hand to the field of metric/rhythmic modal improvisation, and on the other hand to the genre of contemporary modal music.
Workshop
The workshop is a two day seminar on 11-12/04/2021, (19h00-22h00, Greek time) and offers six hours of musical inquiries: Where are we, what we are doing and how we make choices in improvisaiton and in the creative process.
