Clara van Dam gives a guest lecture on guidance documents of the European Commission
On 26 February 2021, Clara van Dam was invited by Dr Oana Stefan to give a guest lecture for students of King’s College London in the elective course on ‘Law and New Modes of Governance in the European Union’.
In her lecture, Clara presented her research in which she identifies a new typology of guidance provisions that can be found in guidance documents issued by the European Commission to assist the Member States in the implementation of European Union law. Clara subsequently discussed how this typology was used as an ‘analytical lens’ in her doctoral thesis to conduct the empirical study on the role and effects of guidance documents in the Dutch legal order.
Information on Clara’s doctoral thesis ‘Guidance documents of the European Commission in the Dutch legal order’ can be found here. The typology of guidance documents was also published in REALaw.
