Prof. Liefaard addresses legal professionals in India about COVID-responses and children’s rights
Prof. Ton Liefaard connected to around 150 legal professionals in India and beyond to reflect upon the COVID-response of governments from a children’s rights perspective.
International Bridges to Justice in India, in collaboration with the COVID Response Alliance of India on Child Protection and the Bar Council of New Delhi invited Prof. Liefaard to address a broad audience of legal professionals in India. Students (and alumni) of the Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights (LL.M.) were also present. Prof. Liefaard stressed that the current COVID-crisis is of a global scale, which requires global efforts to cope with it and to provide solutions, especially to the most vulnerable, including children. It was further acknowledged that coordination between various governmental agencies is key and that the human rights paradigm should be actively used.
