Renovation Lipsius building

As of now, a lot of renovations are taking place in the Lipsius building. By the summer of 2020, 23 lecture halls should be completed in this building. These rooms are built because by then, the lecture halls in the P.N. Van Eyckhof/Van Wijkplaats can no longer be used. These buildings have to be empty by the summer of 2020 due to renovations that are planned later that year.

Renovations

The work in Lipsius will be carried out by construction company Huurman Leiden BV and will take place on the first and second floor between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The building will remain open during the renovations. Noise nuisance may occur between 7.00 and 9.00 am. The demolition work will continue until Friday January 17, 2020. The work to build the new halls will then continue until the end of May 2020.

Why is this necessary?

The P.N. Van Eyckhof and Van Wijkplaats buildings will be thoroughly renovated from the end of 2020. After this renovation, by 2022, more than 700 smaller lecture halls and spaces for self-study, two large lecture halls, work and meeting rooms, common rooms and the libraries will be located in these buildings. As a result of this renovation, it will not be possible to make use of the lecture halls during that period. The new lecture halls in the Lipsius building will solve this shortage of rooms.

Further questions

During the renovation of the Lipsius building a supervisor will be walking around. He is the point of contact for anyone who has any questions about the renovation, you can recognize him by his clothing (yellow vest). If you can't find him immediately, ask for him at the information desk.
