Morshed Mannan at The New School in New York City
In November 2019, Morshed Mannan participated at a conference entitled Who Owns the World? The State of Platform Cooperativism, that was hosted by The New School in New York City.
The confererence was the 10th annual conference on Digital Labor that was hosted by The New School and brought together roughly 700 academics, cooperative entrepreneurs, lawyers, organizational consultants, activists, policy makers and artists from more than 30 countries.
Morshed presented an article that will be part of his PhD thesis, entitled ‘Everything Old is New Again: Evaluating the Legal and Governance Structures of Emergent Protocol Cooperatives’, and spoke on a panel on data co-operatives with other researchers, business consultants and Member of the New York City Assembly, Ron Kim.
Morshed’s involvement in the conference was the culmination of his work with the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy at The New School, for which he was awarded a research fellowship for the 2019 calendar year.
The New School will publish the research of Morshed and the other research fellows in the Spring of 2020.
