Leiden Centre on East African Law trains East-African Competition Commissioners
On 28 and 29 August, Dr. Ben Van Rompuy and Dr. Armin Cuyvers gave a two-day training to the Competition Commissioners of the newly established East-African Competition authority.
Building on the experiences in the EU, the training covered substantive and procedural issues of competition law as well as the strategic challenges faced when setting up a new regional competition authority. After a highly successful training the EAC Competition Authority and the Leiden Centre for East-African Law are now exploring options to develop a more structural collaboration including also other EAC organs.
This training was organized within the aegis of the Leiden Centre on East-African Community Law (LEAC), which is a part of the Europa Institute of Leiden Law School, and which aims to comparatively apply its extensive expertise in EU law and European Integration to the East African Community.
