Climathon: hackathon for a climate proof Leiden
How do we promote sustainable alternatives in lower-income households, make construction sites energy neutral, and, make cities greener in a sustainable way? Friday 25 October you can tackle these challenges and work on a climate proof Leiden, together with other citizens. Sign up before Wednesday 23 October!
Climathon Leiden
The Climathon is a hackathon in which people all over the world work on climate challenges that are also globally relevant. The event is an initiative of Climate-KIC, the European climate community which tries to connect enterprises, governments, education, and science to work together on a climate proof future.
This year the worldwide climate-hackathon takes place for the fifth time, and for the first time in Leiden. In 2018 113 cities participated from 46 different countries with more than 5000 participants and more than 400 solutions.
Leiden challenges
Challenges for the Climathon Leiden were defined in conversations with companies, researchers, societal organizations, the municipality and citizens. Participants will work in teams together on solving one of the challenges. They will be coached in problem definition, ideation, and, prototyping and guided by an expert. At the end of the day the solution will be pitched in front of a jury. The winning team will be supported by PLNT after the Climathon to further develop the solution.
The Climathon starts at 09:00 and lasts until 21:00 and takes place in PLNT (Langegracht 70, Leiden). The main language will be English.
You can sign up either individually or with a team until Wednesday 23 October via https://climathon.climate-kic.org/en/leiden.
The challenge you will work on you can choose in the morning of the Climathon.
