Peter Hovenkamp (65) died in Malaysia
This weekend, the very sad news reached us that former employee Peter Hovenkamp died during an excursion in Malaysia. He was surprised by a flash flood in a cave in Gunung Mulu National Park.
Peter Hovenkamp was a highly valued teacher and colleague, who worked at the Faculty of Science for a long time. He has done a lot for biology in Leiden and biology education at Leiden University. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends, and the colleagues of the Hortus, the IBL, the CML, and Naturalis who have worked (a lot) with Peter.
In the Winter Garden in the Hortus in Leiden, a place has been set up where people can leave a condolence message for Peter's wife Gerda van Uffelen (head of collections at the Hortus) and her family.
