MA Translation awarded European Master’s in Translation label
The MA Linguistic’s specialization in Translation has now been admitted to the prestigious European Masters in Translation (EMT) Network.
The master’s programme in Translation at Leiden University is now a member of the prestigious European Masters in Translation Network, an initiative of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation that seeks to enhance the status of the translation profession in the EU.
The EMT quality label is awarded to higher education programmes that meet agreed professional standards and market demands. The EMT network aims to “improve the quality of translator training in order to enhance the labour market integration of young language professionals.”
Members of the EMT Network are selected on the basis of a call for applications, organised every five years. Programmes have to meet a number of criteria relevant for quality translator training according to the EMT Competence Framework.
‘Having been awarded this label reflects the high quality of our programme’, says dr. Lettie Dorst, one of the members of staff. ‘Our graduates will now have even greater access to the international translation profession.’
