Leiden Delegation to 19th International Insolvency Institute Annual Conference in Barcelona
From 16 to 18 June 2019, Professor Matthias Haentjens, Professor Reinout Vriesendorp, emeritus Professor Bob Wessels, and PhD candidate Shuai Guo from Leiden Law School attended the 19th International Insolvency Institute (III) Annual Conference held in Barcelona, Spain.
During the academic session, Professor Haentjens spoke about “Debt securities held through intermediaries: Insolvency set-off and related issues”. More specifically, his presentation concerned “Set-off and intermediated bonds; the NL/EU perspective”. He explained, from Dutch and European law perspectives, insolvency set-off issues where bonds are held through intermediaries - as most bonds are. He pointed out that legal uncertainties abounded and argued for further legal reforms.
III is a highly reputable, limited membership organisation dedicated to advancing and promoting insolvency as a discipline in the international field.
