Dissertation Prize European Law Faculties Association awarded to Vestert Borger
On Thursday 11 April, at its annual meeting in Turin, the European Law Faculties Association awarded its dissertation prize to Vestert Borger, assistant professor in European Law at the Europa Institute of Leiden University. The Association, founded in 1995, has as its aim to increase the quality of legal education in Europe. With its dissertation prize the Association seeks to stimulate and recognize outstanding legal research in European law.
Vestert Borger received the award for his dissertation The Transformation of the Euro: Law, Contract, Solidarity, written under the supervision of professor Stefaan Van den Bogaert (promotor) and dr. Jorrit Rijpma (copromotor). In his dissertation, defended cum laude at Leiden University on 31 January 2018, Borger studies how the currency union could undergo constitutional change during the euro crisis with hardly any formal amendment to the Union Treaties.
