Prof. Ton Liefaard contributes to UN Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty
As a member of the international advisory board, Prof. Dr. Ton Liefaard, participated in the final expert meeting of the United Nations Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty, in Venice from 11-13 March 2019.
To address the plight of children deprived of liberty, the UN General Assembly adopted its Child Rights Resolution, in December 2014, inviting the UN Secretary-General to commission an in-depth global study on children deprived of liberty. On 25 October 2016, the Secretary General welcomed the appointment of Prof. Dr. Manfred Nowak as independent expert to lead the Study. The final report will be presented to the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly in October 2019.
