Graduation Ceremony Interdisciplinary Master Cyber Security

On Thursday 7 February 2019, the graduation ceremony for the executive master programme Cyber Security took place at The Hague Security Delta (HSD). The Cyber Security programme is a collaboration of University Leiden, Delft University of Technology, and The Hague University of Applied Sciences. A total of fourteen students received their diploma.

Each graduant was called forward by their thesis supervisor. All supervisors gave short speeches on the journey each graduant had taken to obtain their diploma. The phrases ‘cum laude’ and ‘paper worthy’ were mentioned several times, indicating that this cohort too presented a very talented group of people. A graduant, who preferred to remain anonymous, elaborated on the enthusiasm of both teachers and students: ‘You learn a lot from each other. Because of the small scale of the programme, it’s very easy to approach teachers with questions’.

John van Veenhuizen (r)

Multidisciplinair

John van Veenhuizen: ‘As Head Information Services at the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, I have a very busy life. I work 60 hours a week and the combination study and work was quite often difficult. Your weekends are filled with your studies, even though you’d like to be doing other things. I really enjoyed the executive master Cyber Security. The focus is on cyber security but not just from one single perspective, making this not only a very useful course but fun at the same time.’

Another student from the cohort confirms John van Veenhuizen’s remarks: ‘The master Cyber Security is multidisciplinary. During the master attention is given to not only the technological side but also to the legal, administrative, economic, and psychological aspects of digital security. You are taught to look for connections.’

The Leiden University - Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs would like to congratulate all the graduants!
