Bogus constructions and intra EU migrants (working in the Netherlands)
On 30 November 2019, the event ‘Bogus constructions and intra EU migrants (working in the Netherlands)' took place. This very successful seminar was organized in spirit of the project Solidarity Under Strain (SOLID), part of the research focus area ILS 2.0.
The audience mainly consisted of people who work with one or more aspects of bogus constructions and labor migrants. Employees of the ‘Sociale verzekeringsbank’, the ‘Centrale Raad van Beroep’, the ‘Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport’, the ‘Inspectie Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid’ and the trade union FNV were present. Also, researchers from Leiden University and Tilburg University represented the academic field. Due to the wide diversity of speakers, the subject was highlighted from several perspectives. Anke van der Hoeven specifically addressed her PhD research and explained how her fieldwork - the interviewing of international truck drivers - went. The content of the seminar led to interesting discussions and raised many questions. During the seminar it once more became clear how complex this important subject is. The need to collaborate with chain partners in the prevention and control of bogus constructions regularly came back as an noteworthy topic of discussion.
