Luuk van Middelaar speaks at Copenhagen conference on “EU Constitutional Imagination”
On 1-2 November, Professor Luuk van Middelaar spoke at the Academic Conference “EU Constitutional Imagination: Between ideology and utopia” at the University of Copenhagen.
The conference was convened by Professor Jan Komarek (iCourts, Copenhagen). He addressed the need for European contitutional law to emancipate itself from utopian thinking, understood as a legacy from Europe’s founding moments and revealed by teleological tendencies and a certain number of taboos. Other speakers at the conference included Christian Joerges (Hertie School of Governance), Alexander Somek (University of Vienna), Michael Wilkinson (LSE) and Kalypso Nicolaïdes (St Anthony’s, Oxford).
