Jorrit Rijpma speaks in St. Petersburg on the Rule of Law and the Refugee Crisis
On 12 September 2018 Rijpma, Associate Professor of European Law at the Europa Institute, spoke at the Netherlands Institute in St. Petersburg in the framework of the Dutch Wednesday lecture series.
The objective of these lectures is to let Dutch scholars introduce their research to students, lecturers and alumni of Dutch universities and to foster new contact and collaboration.
In his lecture Jorrit Rijpma spoke about the recent problems with the rule of law in a number of EU Member States, prompting action by the EU Commission and the European Parliament. He paid particular importance to the rule of law for cooperation in Europe on matters of justice and home affairs.
On 13 September Rijpma spoke about the European refugee crisis, to a group of around hundred Russian students. The lecture was organised at the Dutch Consulate in cooperation with the Russian Institute of Law.
