Newly discovered barrrows under investigation
Monday June 18th the department of European Prehistory of the Faculty of Archaeology started a five-year research (2018-2022) of two newly discovered barrow groups: Baarlo-De Bong and Venlo-Zaarderheiken (northern Limburg).
Forgotten Barrows
The main goal of the research project Forgotten Barrows is the conservation, protection, and presentation of the mounds. Archaeological research is an important step to achieve this. This year both groups are inventoried. The next year barrows and landscape will be further researched in cooperation with the municipalities of Peel and Maas and Venlo, the Limburgs Museum and land owners.
