History and Classics rank high in QS Rankings by Subject
Leidens's Classics and History rank 6th and 15th place in the QS World University Rankings by Subject. Every year, QS ranks universities all over the world on academic reputation and research impact, grouped by subject. Linguistics (23), Languages (39) and Religious Studies (40) also do well in the list this year.
High performers
According to the QS ranking, Leiden University is the best place to study History in continental Europe, and the best place to study Classics in The Netherlands.
QS World University Ranking
Since 2010, QS releases rankings by subject for the best universities in the world every year. The rankings are based on surveys among academics and employers. A university's research impact is also taken into account by looking at the number of quotations in academic publications.
Humanities go up in the list
In total, the Leiden humanities subjects (grouped under the category 'Arts & Humanities') rise 7 spots this year, to place 42. In the QS World University Ranking of Universities, released earlier this year, Leiden University is at place 109.
