Daniela Kraft wins Biophysical Journal Paper of the Year Award
The editors of Biophysical Journal have selected a publication from Daniela Kraft’s group as the Paper of the Year 2017. The award recognizes an outstanding contribution by a young investigator.
The prize-winning article by authors Van der Wel, Heinrich and Kraft is titled ‘Microparticle Assembly Pathways on Lipid Membranes’ and describes how micrometer-sized plastic particles organize themselves on lipid membranes, which surround all of our body’s cells. The results are important for understanding the aggregation and accumulation of microplastics in living organisms. Earlier experiments on this custom-designed setup have also received attention from Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant.
Kraft receives the $1000 prize and plaque after her invited talk on February 20th at the Biophysical Society Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
