Joost Kok appointed to be new Dean of University of Twente’s EEMCS Faculty
Joost Kok, Professor of Computer Science at the Faculty of Science, has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) at the University of Twente. He will succeed Prof. Peter Apers, and start at 1 February 2018.
Joost Kok started his career at Leiden University in 1995 and has since then been of great importance for Leiden University. In addition to his role as Professor of Computer Science, Joost Kok also is Professor of Medicine at the Leiden University Medical Centre and is the founding father of the Leiden Center of Data Science and the Sport Data Center, of which he is the director. For eight years Kok was the scientific director of the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS). For a period of ten years prior to his appointment as scientific director, he was programme director for all Computer Science educational programmes at Leiden University.
Both the Faculty Board and LIACS are looking back at a fruitful era and wish Joost all the best with his new position.
