Appointment Judi Mesman: Professor of the Interdisciplinary study of societal challenges
Prof. dr. Judi Mesman has been appointed professor of the interdisciplinary study of societal challenges, representing a shared chair between the Faculties Governance and Global Affairs (FGGA) and Social and Behavioral Sciences (FSW) at Leiden University.
Mission
The teaching and research agenda associated with this chair will be based on the goals described in the U.N. Agenda for Sustainable Development, focusing more specifically on the interdisciplinary study of societal inequalities in the access and benefits associated with these development goals. The chair’s program adopts a lifespan perspective, studying processes from early childhood into adulthood that might explain the ontogeny of inequalities and possible solutions, examining the changing and stage-specific roles of the educational, cultural institutional, (inter)national political, and economic context.
