School classes visiting the Living Lab
Coming Friday afternoons, primary school classes will visit the Living Lab! In cooperation with Technolab Leiden, several school visits will be organised. Last Friday, group 7" from the primary school "Woutertje Pieterse" from Leiden was the first class visiting the Living Lab.
The children learn about research, water quality and water life. For instance, they learn about the physical and chemical properties of water, about the animal species which can be found in a ditch, how a water flea looks like from nearby and how it moves.
Using a Jenga game, the children learn that a food web can collapse. In addition, the children are allowed to walk along the small ditches, so they can explore and determine the amount of living animals in the ditches.
