United States travel restrictions
The US travel restrictions are deeply regrettable. Support will be offered to students and staff who are affected.
The executive order banning people from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen (or people with a passport from one of these countries) from entering the US severely limits their mobility and contravenes the global ban on discrimination. For researchers and students, the ability to cross national borders is a crucial aspect of their research and education. A huge variety of nationalities are represented at Leiden University and it firmly distances itself from this executive order. The travel restrictions may also have consequences for green-card and visa holders who are currently residing in the Netherlands.
