Bert Meijer joins Board of Governors
Professor Bert Meijer has been appointed to the Board of Governors of Leiden University by Minister of Education, Culture and Science Jet Bussemaker for a term of four years from 1 January 2017.
Meijer succeeds Dr Wim van Saarloos, who served on the Board from 16 July 2014 to 1 January 2017.
Professorship
Professor Meijer is Professor of Molecular Science and Organic Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology, where he is also Scientific Director of the Institute for Complex Molecular Systems. In addition, he is Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of California.
Prizes
Meijer has been awarded numerous scientific prizes during his career. He was awarded a Spinoza Prize in 2001, the highest academic award in the Netherlands, and in 2010 a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Research Grant. In 2014 Meijer was appointed Academy Professor at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).
