Delegation of Leiden Law School visits Tirana
This summer, a delegation of Leiden Law School composed of Prof. Rick Lawson, Prof. Stefaan Van den Bogaert and Dr. Darinka Piqani visited Tirana (Albania).
Meetings were held at the Faculty of Law of Tirana University, the School of Magistrates, the Albanian School of Public Administration, the Dutch Embassy, the Albanian Ministry of European Integration. The purpose of the visit was to explore potential forms of cooperation with academic and professional institutions and hopefully to build bridges of knowledge transfer and capacity building with those institutions. In addition, on 8 June 2016 Prof. Lawson and Prof. Van den Bogaert delivered a joint lecture at the Centre of Excellence of the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This lecture touched uopn some current challenges to European integration (Brexit, refugee crisis, Eurocrisis) as well as recent developments in the case law of the European Court of Human Rights concerning detention conditions.
