Peter Grünwald and Johannes Schmidt-Hieber win NWO Top awards
Peter Grünwald and Johannes Schmidt-Hieber, both statisticians in the Mathematical Institute, were awarded grants from the Netherlands Science Foundation NWO. The Top awards are for curiosity-driven research of "high quality and urgency".
Peter received a grant in the "Top compartment" for senior researchers with an established track record, for this project "Safe Bayesian Inference: A Theory of Misspecification based on Statistical Learning".
Johannes obtained a grant in the "Top compartment" for young researchers who belong to the top in their age group, for his research project "Nonparametric Bayes for high-dimensional models: contraction, credible sets, computations".
The grants will be used to hire young researchers.
