Inaugural lecture
Prof. dr. Marcel Cobussen has recently been installed as professor in Auditory Culture at the Leiden University. On November 28 at 16.15 hrs. he will give his inaugural lecture, Towards a (New) Sonic Ecology, in the Groot Auditorium of the Academiegebouw.
Performances
As this is the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts, Prof. dr. Cobussen's lecture will be accompanied by short performances of Juan Parra Cancino (computer/electronics) and Willem Tanke (church organ).
Prof.dr. Marcel Cobussen
Prof.dr. Marcel Cobussen studied jazz piano at the Conservatory of Rotterdam, and Art and Cultural Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands). He teaches Music Philosophy, Sound Studies, and Artistic Research at Leiden University (the Netherlands) and the Orpheus Institute Ghent (Belgium). He has been a supervisor and part-time researcher at Lund University and the Malmö Academy of Music (Sweden) from 2006 till 2011.
Cobussen thinks around sound and music. Results: several books, articles, book contributions (see publications), and an online dissertation Deconstruction in Music.
