Ben Van Rompuy on EU competition law and the transnational private regulation of sport
At two recent events, Ben Van Rompuy, Assistant Professor of competition law at the Europa Institute in Leiden, discussed current developments in the application of EU competition rules to regulatory aspects of sport.
On 24 November, Ben gave a presentation at the 86th Lunch Talk of the Global Competition Law Center (College of Europe) in Brussels. On 28 November, Ben was also invited to speak at a breakfast seminar (“Actualiteiten sport en mededinging”) organized by CMS Derks Star Busmann (Amsterdam). Together with Edmon Oude Elferink, competition law partner at CMS Brussels, he discussed recent State aid and other competition law challenges facing the professional football sector.
