Leiden University to strengthen cooperation with China
Rector Carel Stolker officially presented the University's Programme for Cooperation with China to stakeholders from the Chinese Embassy, the Dutch government, the private sector, and societal organizations during a China dinner at Leiden University on 11 October.
Focus on China
Leiden University has designated China as one of the first three priority countries or regions with which it seeks to expand and intensify its international cooperation. The other two are Indonesia and Latin America. The University acknowledges the rapid development and quality of China’s academic system and recognizes the mutual benefits of sharing knowledge, expertise, research infrastructures, and academic environments with China.
Long-term teaching and research collaboration
The Programme for Cooperation with China seeks to establish a strategic and sustainable university-wide partnership programme for long-term collaboration in teaching and research with Chinese partner universities. The partnerships will be based on the complementary strengths of the partner universities. It aims to contribute to research and education on both sides and to generate joint projects that have an impact on science, the economy and society. The existing strong relationship with China will provide a sound basis for the development of the Programme.
China on LEI website
The newly launched China dossier on the Leiden University website provides information about the University's cooperation with more than 20 Chinese partner universities in research and education, about studying in Leiden for students from Chinese Universities and opportunities to study in China for Leiden students.
