TA grant for Irene Groot
Chemist Irene Groot has been awarded a TA grant. Together with Shell, Leiden Probe Microscopy, DSM Resolve and Utrecht University, Groot will conduct research into catalysts for the production of raw materials and fuels.
About the research
Groot will work in a consortium on the live study of catalysts used in the chemical industry to produce raw materials and fuels. The partners in the consortium are: Prof. Bert Weckhuysen (UU), Dr Alexander van Bavel (Shell Global Solutions International BV), Dr Gertjan van Baarle (Leiden Probe Microscopy) and Dr Joachim Loos (DSM Resolve).
About the TA
The TA is one of the forms of public-private partnership that receives funding from the NWO Chemical Sciences Innovatiefonds Chemie. The TA is awarded to public-private projects that involve at least two companies and two knowledge institutions. Different research organisations investigate a question that a number of companies would like to see answered. A third of the funding for TA projects comes from industry and two-thirds from NWO. The minimum project budget is € 750,000 (€ 250,000 from industry and € 500,000 from NWO) and the maximum is € 1,500,000. Topics that correspond with the roadmaps of the Chemistry Top Sector are eligible for funding.
