Leak in mains water supply in new building at Faculty of Science
A leak developed in the mains water supply in the new building of Leiden University’s Faculty of Science at the Wassenaarseweg on Tuesday evening.
The leak occurred on the third floor of the building and as a result all the lower floors suffered considerable water damage. The fire service was on site very rapidly and took appropriate measures. Work was in progress throughout the night to pump the water away.
Apart from the G wings, the part of the building affected by the leak, the premises are accessible for staff. Student lab practicals have been transferred to an alternative location.
Everything possible is being done to see that the wings affected are operational again as soon as possible. The G wings will in any event be out of use on Wednesday and Thursday. The moves to these wings planned for Wednesday and Thursday have been cancelled.
