“Can anyone hear me?” Training manual for professionals to improve juvenile justice systems
On the 13th of May, 2016, the International Juvenile Justice Observatory launched the training Manual “Can anyone hear me?” for the project ‘Improving Juvenile Justice Systems in Europe: Training for Professionals’, funded by the European Union (DG Justice). Dr. Stephanie Rap, Apollonia Bolscher, LL.M., and Prof. Ton Liefaard have drafted this training Manual as well as the training’s toolkit, which will published in the course of this year.
The manual of the IJJO serves as the basis for a training for professionals working with children in conflict with the law and is specifically geared towards improving their communication with children. It addresses topics relating to children’s legal rights, interviewing techniques and communication. It also provides knowledge on child psychology and pedagogy relevant for child-friendly justice in the context of juvenile justice.
