Jorrit Rijpma writes report for the LIBE Committee of the European Parliament
Today a Report on the Commission’s proposal for a European Border and Coast Guard was published online. The report was written by Jorrit Rijpma at the request of the European Parliament’s LIBE committee.
The proposal brings together a reinforced Frontex, the current European Border Guard Agency, and the national border guard authorities under the umbrella of a European Border and Coast Guard, making them jointly responsible for the management of the EU’s external borders.
In light of the refugee crisis there is considerable pressure on the EU legislator to reach swift agreement on the text of the proposal.
