Grotius Centre signs agreement with Nuremberg Academy in presence of H.M. Willem-Alexander
On 14 April 2016, Professor Carsten Stahn, Programme Director of the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies in The Hague, and Ambassador Bernd Borchardt, Founding Director of the International Nuremberg Principles Academy, signed a new partnership agreement on research cooperation and joint activities in the area of international criminal justice, in the presence of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.
The agreement was signed in the historic "Saal 600", the Court room where the Nuremberg trials were held after the Second World War. Collaboration between the Grotius Centre and the Academy will focus on strengthening international justice in national legal orders. Professor Stahn offered his H.M. King Willem-Alexander the book on ‘The International Criminal Court and Complementarity: From Theory to Practice’ (Cambridge University Press, 2011) to, which serves as a basis for a joint research project of the two institutions.
