Come to the qualifying round of Famelab on 16 February in Leiden

Which two scientists will present their research best in three minutes? It could be the one with the most supporters.

Leiden qualifying round

FameLab has quickly become a popular mediagenic competition in science communication. The candidates first compete against one another in a regional qualifying round. On 16 February a jury, comprising Professors Christine Mummery and Jaap de Jong and Mike Shaw of Luris, will decide which of the Leiden researchers has given the strongest presentation. Come to the event on 16 February and support your candidate! (See registration form below.)

Fortunately, the candidates do not have to reinvent the wheel: on 12 February they will have a training course in 'pitching', and they can practise performing in front of a critical 'jury'.

The European final

At each qualifying round two candidates will qualify for the national final on 2 April 2016 in Utrecht, where the best candidate from all the universities will be chosen. Last year the final was broadcast on TV. The winner will represent the Netherlands in June 2016 in the European final in Great Britain. Last year Leiden PhD candidate Marcia Brandenberg was the Dutch representative.
