Grotius Centre delivers Pufendorf Research Seminar at Lund
On 8 December 2015, Prof. Carsten Stahn gave a Pufendorf Research seminar at the University of Lund. He spoke on International Criminal Justice and Post-Colonial Critique, drawing on a chapter in a forthcoming volume on Contested Justice, published with Cambridge University Press.
Prof. Stahn examined four dimensions of the post-colonial analogy: centre/periphery divides, elitism, social engineering and modern types of orientalization. He argued that international criminal justice is vulnerable to some of the dilemmas that other liberal and emancipatory projects face, such as paternalistic and missionary features, perpetuation of structural inequalities or distorting effects of de-localisation.
