PhDArts researcher Brigitte Kovacs participates in the group exhibition The Art of Women – Friends and Accomplices, curated by Barbara Steiner, that shows works of contemporary artists who deal with current economic conditions and with the history of the Austrian Association of Women Artists (VBKÖ) in equal measure.

Emanuele Torquati will play the UK premiere of docARTES researcher Giuliano Bracci's piece 'Canto notturno' for piano at the University of Southampton. Giuliano Bracci will join Emanuele Torquati as a guest composer and teacher and has also been invited to give a lecture.

Danne Ojeda
D-SIGN-LAB is an interdisciplinary exhibition on design, pedagogy and curatorial works by PhDArts researcher Danne Ojeda, in which design dialogues with art, science and museology, among other fields. Whether as a designer, a curator or an educator, Danne exposes experimental, conceptual, and critical positions that question the role of design in contemporary society. The exhibition is held as part of de.sign lecture series in Prague.

PhDArts researcher Jack Segbars will give a presentation and attend the workshops at the conference Benjamin in Palestine. On the Place and Non-Place of Radical Thought, organized by Benjamin scholars, critical theorists, activists and artists from the Middle East, Europe and North America. Hosts and partner institutes are the International Academy of Art Palestine, Birzeit University, Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, and Goethe-Institut Palästinensische Gebiete.

Ato Malinda
PhDArts researcher Ato Malinda exhibits drawings of a transgender man living in Canada who is originally from Kenya, as part of the exhibition Future Africa Visions in Time at Bayreuth University, Germany. This exhibition project pairs artists with social researchers, each producing a project. The pairs have worked together to contribute toward their vision of Africa’s future. Malinda worked with sociologist Sybille Bauriedl to produce a project titled “queer volatility; indecipherable achievement of a socially utopic state”.

Thalia Hoffman
PhDArts researcher Thalia Hoffman contributes to the 2nd Annual Conference of the Israeli Center for Digital Art with the work Be’al Peh (Speaking It), which operates as part of Radio Halas, a platform for the stories of residents of the neighborhoods located along the Ayalon South Highway. During the conference Ayalon Highway Radio will broadcast conversations with residents, recorded stories, thoughts about the needs and desires of the region’s community radio operators, and socio-geographic discussions about the different neighborhoods along the Ayalon South Highway.

Thalia Hoffman will show the video Guava at the Medrar 7th Cairo Video Festival, a platform to start a conversation between video artists, curators and the public, and a space for artists to showcase their innovative, low-budget video art productions that are selected according to quality, authenticity and conviction in investigation of subject matter. Synopsis Guava: On a refugee road between Jaffa-Tel Aviv and Beirut two refugees discuss love, memory, trust and forgetfulness.
