Leiden University agrees to guarantee open access for linguistics
Dutch universities involved in lingusitics research and teaching have been asked through the VSNU to provide financial guarantees for the transition of linguistics research to open access. The universities, including Leiden, have agreed.

Linguistics is the first discipline to depart from the hugely expensive journals and will in future publish all linguistics research itself in open access, under the name LingOA. To facilite the transition, universities where linguistics research and teaching are conducted have been asked to guarantee the finances of the transition. The universities have agreed to do this. Besides Leiden, the universities involved are Groningen, Nijmegen and Utrecht, and both Amsterdam universities.
