Daniela Merolla qualified with ‘Habilitation’
The "Habilitation"(HDR) is the highest qualification that a researcher can achieve in France and qualifies the researcher to supervise doctoral candidates independently.
In France, HDR is required to apply for professorship. The Habilitation is achieved after the candidate writes - and defends in a public session - a manuscript reflecting on the theoretical framework and methodology and the results of her whole research after the PhD thesis and promotion. Daniela defended her research career in front of a committee of specialists in Berber and African Literatures.
