Welcome to our new tutors at the BA International Studies! Mid-August 14 new faces joined our team! We are happy to welcome them to the International Studies community and want to introduce them to our students. We asked them where they come from, what they expect of teaching at International Studies and whether they want to share something that not everybody knows about them. Here are their answers:

New International Studies Minor Equivalent
Good news for International Studies students! We have created a brand new International Studies minor equivalent as an additional option for your Elective Credits, developed by our own International Studies staff. We have also organised some other course options for your Elective Credits.

Practising International Studies (PRINS)
Practising International Studies is a consultancy project course where teams of students analyze real life cases and problems presented by organizational leaders that operate in international environments. A diverse range of businesses, NGO’s, government organizations appeal to student teams to use their broad and multiperspective background in International Studies and research capabilities to provide them with novel insights that can assist them in their future decision-making.

Meet Nathaniël Linssen, the new Subject Librarian for International Studies, International Relations, LUC and Law
We are pleased to introduce Nathaniël Linssen (he/him), who joined the university library team in December 2022 as the Subject Librarian for International Studies, International Relations, LUC, and Law.

Culture in International Studies
The Culture learning stream in International Studies aims to train students to think critically about issues of language and culture in both local and global contexts. Linguistics and cultural studies can be key to the success of culturally informed future International Studies professionals.

Politics in International Studies
The Politics learning stream in International Studies aims to familiarize the students with the main issues, ideas, notions, theories and methods of Politics and International Relations. It exposes students to a diversity of perspectives. Courses and tutorials are given by specialists with varying regional expertise. We aim to make students aware of the great diversity of the realm of politics (comparative politics, political philosophy and international relations), introducing them to major politics and international relations paradigms, without necessarily privileging one over the other.

Follow the "This Is International Studies" blogs and contribute!
New blogs of staff and students appear regularly on the "This Is International Studies" website. Staff and students involved in the programme are invited to contribute to the blog. Topics of interest are all matters connected to the theme of the programme (globalization and its the regional effects, see also this blog post), including the presentation of current research by our academic staff, discusions on the profile of International Studies and related matters, such as multidisciplinary.

Looking for “models”! Photo shoot International Studies - 8 June (€ 7,50 p/h)
We are looking for you! For the BA International Studies, the University is looking for students to participate in a photo shoot. The photos will be used for means of recruitment of prospective students, like the programme’s website, the brochure, advertisements and on social media. With your help, we are aiming to create genuine, authentic visuals that truly represent International Studies. So, everybody is welcome!

Speed date between International Studies’ students and alumni a fruitful success
It was a diverse crowd of around 45 people that gathered on 28 February to attend the ‘career speed date’ event between current and former students of the BA International Studies. The informal event, set-up in a room of the parliamentary press center Nieuwspoort, meant to provide students with some insights ‘from the field’ into professional life after International Studies.
