Have you made your area and language choice yet? Looking back on the Area Fair
As the deadline for choosing a region of study dwells on International Studies Students, on October 28th, the yearly Area Fair was held. Students could walk around the Schouwburgstraat building as presentations, stands filled with snacks from the area, and workshops were being offered.

Master programmes
After graduating from the BA International Studies you will not only have acquired knowledge about the forces of globalization and your region of choice, you will also possess valuable skills that are sought after by employers and by universities selecting candidates for master’s programmes. Do you want to follow a full academic programme? After obtaining your bachelor’s degree you can continue with a master’s programme. Your master’s diploma will increase your chances of finding a job at a higher (academic) level.

Charity Ball 2018
On the 19th of May, over 200 Leiden University students gathered at the ‘t Goude Hoft in the centre of the Hague for the annual International Studies Charity Ball. The event aimed to raise fund for the Russian charity СПИД.ЦЕНТР (AIDs. Centre). The charities main goal is to provide support services and free testing for people living with HIV in Russia.

About
The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies provides students with the tools to investigate globalisation, and its regional effects, from a humanities perspective. Students study these effects through the prism of four disciplinary perspectives: culture, history, politics and economics, coupled with in-depth knowledge of one of eight world regions.

Significant improvements on the National Student Survey!
The results of the National Student Survey (NSE), in which 664 of our students participated (thank you!) showed a significant improvement compared to International Studies' last year’s results. This has convinced the Programme Board that we are on the right track with our restructured programme. Below we would like to highlight some of the results.

Sarita Koendjbiharie Wins a Give-and-Take Trophy by La Red
Dr. Sarita Koendjbiharie, lecturer at our International Studies programme, has won a Give-and-Take trophy by La Red, a network science consultancy firm. The trophy is awarded to the individuals who have the most valuable social capital and the willingness to support others with their network.
