What is the Morocco and Tunisia Zeytun Aacademic exchange programme?
It is an academic exchange programme between the UvA, Leiden University, the École de Gouvernance et d'Économie, University Mohamed V (Rabat) and the Ibn Tofaïl University (Kenitra) in Morocco. The exchange will take place in the second semester and consists of the following elements:
- A 10 day visit by 10 Dutch students to Morocco, most likely April 2019
- A 10 day visit by 10 Moroccan students to the Netherlands, most likely in June 2019
- A preparatory course with weekly meetings in Februari and March 2019
During the intensive visits, students will follow a programme that consists of academic lectures, seminars and discussions alongside a practical component entailing visits to government institutions, political parties, civil society, ngos and media outlets.
What is it about and who is it for?
The themes of these programmes are: Youth empowerment, mobility and development.
These programmes are offered as an elective (12 EC) in the bachelor Political Science at the UvA, but is open to candidates from all BA programmes, including Leiden University. Participants should have completed their first year and have a minimum of 42 credits within the second year of their own programme. Previous knowledge and/or experience in the Middle Eastern and North African region is recommended but not a prerequisite.
