Dear Alumni,
I am happy to introduce this Newsletter specially dedicated to the alumni of our programme. It has again been a good year for International Studies, with a record number of students joining the ranks of the alumni when graduating in August.
Now in its sixth year, the programme is more and more established, and is even going through its first serious overhaul. In general the courses in the various disciplines and areas have been more logically structured and (research) skills training is being given more systematic attention by the introduction of a new research methods elective in the second year and a course called Language in Practice in the third year, while the irreplaceable PRINS has been upgraded to a 10 EC course.
To keep track of all changes and activities in and of the programme we have introduced a new website with special attention to alumni. Through the inclusion of what we call Alumni Dreams we have been made aware of all the wonderful jobs alumni do and experiences they are going through.
Our Alumni Association is also becoming increasingly active, exemplified by the organisation of the first official reunion of International Studies students on June 9th last. Upcoming events will be announced through their Facebook page. They have also been involved in the new The Hague Career event which took place on 18 April with interesting speakers and more than twenty workshops many organised by international organisations.
In this newsletter you will find a variety of items, including interviews with two alumni, one of them represented in the alumni dreams series (more of these will soon be published on the website), information about the Leiden University Mentor Network, and more.
