New online platform for students on Discord
Hello everyone! Our names are Mila and Obaida, and we are both third year students of the International Studies programme here at Leiden University. Over the last few weeks, we have been working with a team of dedicated International Studies students on a project that will help students reconnect, socialise, and meet new people.
For many of us it has been many months since we were last on campus, and many months that we have been separated from each other and have not been able to have any personal conversations or connections among ourselves.
To combat this, we have been working on a new online platform for the student body of the International Studies programme using the widely-available and popular Discord app. Discord combines the voice chat aspects of services like Skype with the text chat aspects of instant messaging services, while also providing features such as sharing your screen or using your camera. By using Discord, we now have a space where the entire student body can chat, meet, share and post all kinds of things, hold events, and participate in countless activities from gaming together to watching movies/tv-shows, or even holding cook-alongs and jam sessions, and much much more!
