About the course 'Public institutions'
This course explores the central role of institutions in political life and examines their influence on policy and governance. Students learn what institutions are, how they differ from other social phenomena, and how they shape the behaviour of civil servants and organisations.
Key topics include the stability and transformation of institutions, collective action problems, and the implications for institutional design and reform. The module combines theoretical insights with practical applications, such as climate policy and COVID-19 responses, preparing students to analyse governance challenges and communicate solutions relevant to policymakers.
